I write the inscription myself, one copy at a time, with the name you give me at checkout. That is what you are paying for. The rest is paper and thread.

- One print run. When reservations close on 15 August the edition is numbered and closed, and I do not print it again.

Everything I have written until now was written to be read once and applied. This one is different. It is the last of the series, and it is meant to be kept.
That is why I am not selling it the way I sold the others. This one is going to exist as an object first: bound, numbered in sequence, and inscribed by hand before it leaves. What follows is what that means in practice, and what it costs.
Why it is not a file
I have sold my teachings as PDFs, and I will keep doing it, because a file reaches a person the same night they decide they need it. That has its own value, and I will not pretend otherwise.
But a file is not left to anyone. It is not opened by a grandchild who finds it on a shelf. It does not carry a name written by hand on its first page.
A file arrives. This edition stays.
Who should not reserve one
I would rather lose the sale than have you regret it, so let me be exact.
- If $747 would be missed at home this month, the answer is no, and it is not a close call. Nothing about a binding makes a teaching truer.
- If you need a book in your hands by a particular date, this is not the format. It is printed after the reservation window closes, and I will not name a date I cannot stand behind.
- If a book on a shelf means nothing to you, keep the money. The object is the whole argument here, and if the argument does not move you, it should not persuade you.
What is left is the person who wants the last thing I write to sit somewhere it can be found again. If that is you, the terms are below in plain language, so that nothing arrives as a surprise.
Your card is charged today, and the book is printed later. Reservations close on 15 August, and the edition goes to press after that, because each copy is numbered in sequence and inscribed individually. Nothing is sitting in a warehouse.
That is why the refund matters more than a promise: you can cancel for a full refund at any point before your copy ships. I will not name a delivery date I cannot stand behind.
The inscription
This is the part that is worth the money, so let me be exact about it. At checkout you write a name, exactly as it should appear. I write it myself, by hand, on the first page of your copy, above the edition number, before the book is wrapped and sent. One copy at a time. It is not printed, it is not a stamp, and it is not the same in two books.
You can write your own name. Or the name of the person you mean to give it to. Or the name of a parent who is no longer here. All three are the right answer.
When it reaches you, read it slowly. There is no hurry in it.
What you are charged, and when
The full $747 is charged to your card at checkout, today. It is not a deposit. What you are reserving is your place in the numbered sequence and the inscription that goes with it.
When it is printed
Reservations close on 15 August. After that the edition goes to press, the copies are numbered in the order they were reserved, and no more are added. You will be told the printing date by email before the print run is placed. I will not name a delivery date I cannot stand behind.
Cancellation
Full refund at any point before your copy ships, for any reason. Write to the address at the foot of this page and it is done.
Where it ships
Worldwide, tracked. You enter your address at checkout and the book is sent there, wherever that is. A small number of territories are unavailable because the payment processor does not serve them; if yours is one, the checkout will tell you before you pay.
